On a rough Atlanta pitch, Loudoun United held 62% possession on the night with five shots on goal.
The first big chance of the match came in the first five minutes when Sami Guediri’s freekick found the diving head of Grant Lillard. The opportunity went just high of the crossbar.
The first shot on target fell to another defender as Rio Hope-Gund’s header was saved by Atlanta’s goalkeeper.

Loudoun United were inches away from the equalizer as a dangerous cross was miscleared by an Atlanta defender and bounced off the right post.
Following halftime, Loudoun United began to put on the pressure. The Red-and-White attempted 12 crosses on the night. In the 78th minute, Carson Vom Steeg found the back of the net, only for the referee to wave it off due to a foul.
Azaad Liadi had Loudoun’s last chance of the match within the 5-yard box, but Atlanta’s goalkeeper was quick to the task with diving save to his right.
The Red-and-White are back at home this Saturday, June 18 against Pheonix Rising FC at Segra Field.
