Loudoun United FC head into Match 34 following a loss at Al Lang Stadium against Tampa Bay Rowdies. The Red-and-White look to get the better of the Battery and finish the season ahead of the Charleston-side, who currently trail by three points.
Loudoun last faced Charleston on May 28 at Segra Field. The match ended in a 1-1 draw with Alexander Dexter being the sole goal scorer for United. After his 25-day contract expired with the Red-and-White, the New York native signed with the Battery for the remainder of the 2022 campaign.
United doubled their win tally from last season and have a chance to finish with nine wins for the first time since their debut season in 2019 (11 wins).
Homegrown Kristian Fletcher received his first MLS start and scored his first MLS goal in the 46th minute for D.C. United.
Homegrown Matai Akinmboni made his second career start for the Black-and-Red this season; he completed 76 minutes. Ted Ku-DiPietro returned to the starting lineup for the first time since July 23rd; he completed 60 minutes.

The Charleston Battery (6-21-6) announced Wednesday the club and Head Coach Conor Casey have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately. Dennis Sanchez will lead the team for the season finale on Saturday.
The Battery are looking to break their four-game losing streak in front of their home crowd on Saturday. In their last outing, Charleston traveled to face Indy Eleven. Augustine Williams scored in the 4-1 loss to Indy. Williams leads the squad with 16 goals in 31 appearances.
