Leesburg, VA. (January 19, 2023) – Loudoun United FC announced today the acquisition of midfielder Cole Turner.
“Cole [Turner] is a competitive player that can play in the midfield or centerback position,” Ryan Martin, Loudoun United FC Head Coach, said. “With his MLS experience, Cole has a great range of passing and loves going into a hard tackle. His leadership will be a great addition to our team”
The Maryland native joins the Red-and-White after most recently playing with Philadelphia Union. Turner made his first appearance of 2021 season in a match against New England on Sept. 3. On Sept. 28, Turner joined USL Championship’s El Paso Locomotive FC on loan for the remainder of the 2021 USL Championship season. The midfielder made nine appearances for the Texas-side.
Turner came through Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union’s Academy program, where he signed in 2015. In 2019, Turner was a USL Academy signing with the USL Championship’s Philadelphia Union II, making a total of 29 appearances during his time with the club.
In January 2020, the six-foot-two-inch midfielder signed an MLS Homegrown Player contract with Philadelphia Union. Turner made his MLS debut against Montreal Impact on Sept. 20 as he provided depth for the club to help Union win the Supporters’ Shield in 2020. Turner made four appearances for Union II in 2020, helping the club earn a shutout in the season opener against Loudoun United FC on March 7.
