On a rainy Saturday evening, the Red-and-White displayed their most impressive 90-minute performance of the season. In front of 2,505 fans at Segra Field, Loudoun United defeated Birmingham Legion FC 3-0. The stats reflected a dominant performance for United. Loudoun led 19-7 on shots, 8-4 on corners and 53% possession on the night.
Forward Wesley Leggett opened his league account in the 32nd minute, rising above the defenders and heading in beautiful cross from Koa Santos.
In the 42nd minute, Kalil ElMedkhar found his first goal of the season. Zach Ryan headed the ball into an onrushing ElMedkhar who drove at the backline and finished low into the bottom right corner.
In the 69th minute, the man of the season found his name on the scoresheet. Forward Zach Ryan snuck in a front-post shot that trickled it’s way over the line. Ryan has recorded five goals in all competitions (4 matches) and two assists.
Goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux led the team to their first clean sheet of the season, recording three saves on the night.
