Loudoun United FC and DC News Now Announce Linear TV Deal
For the first time in club history, all home matches will be broadcast on network TV
Leesburg, VA (February 28, 2023) – Loudoun United FC, DC News Now, and DCW 50 have announced an exclusive multi-year agreement to broadcast Loudoun United FC’s USL Championship home matches on linear television starting with the 2024 season.
Under the agreement, DC News Now and DCW 50 will broadcast all 17 matches played at Segra Field. Additionally, matches will be livestreamed on dcnewsnow.com for local viewers, ensuring easy access to the excitement on the pitch. This partnership marks the first-of-its-kind for Loudoun United FC since the club’s initial year of play in 2019.
“We value fans’ input and recognize the importance they place on game viewing experiences without the barriers of virtual paywalls,” said Greg Baroni, CEO and Managing Partner, Attain Sports, and controlling owner of Loudoun United FC. “This partnership allows us to simplify access to our matches, which aligns with our commitment to enhancing the fan experience and continue to strengthen the connection to the community.”
Fans will be able to tune in to Game Night—the area’s only daily TV sports show—multiple times per week to witness the behind-the-scenes of the Red & White. Prior to each home match, fans can also enjoy a 30-minute pre-match show to prepare for the thrilling action that will soon follow at Segra Field.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Loudoun United FC,” said David Bangura, Vice President and General Manager at DC News Now and DCW 50. “Soccer holds a special place in the hearts of many in our community, and we look forward to bringing area residents live soccer from their home team, fostering a deeper connection between fans and the beautiful game.”
“From the outset, it was clear that our visions aligned—prioritizing the community,” said Doug Raftery, Executive Business Officer, Loudoun United FC. “DC News Now has a strong background of providing sports programming, highlighted by Game Night. This collaboration signifies Loudoun United FC’s continued growth and impact on the region’s soccer landscape.”
Loudoun United FC opens the season on Saturday, March 9, in San Antonio. The home opener is set for Saturday, March 16, against North Carolina FC at Segra Field in Leesburg, VA.
