Leesburg, VA. (November 27th, 2024) – Loudoun United FC announced the re-signing of goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux, extending his contract through 2025, pending league and federation approval.
‘Hugo grew into one of the league’s best goalkeepers by the season’s end. He made some fantastic saves but was even more instrumental in the way we wanted to build out. Having him back for 2025 is a fantastic statement of our ambitions as a club.” – Head Coach, Ryan Martin
“We’re excited to bring back Hugo for another year. His performances last year, especially in the second half of the season, made this an easy decision for the club. Furthermore, having players with young families choosing to stay with this club for multiple years in a row is a great sign of the project we are building here.” – Director of Soccer, Olly Gage
“I decided to re-sign with Loudoun because I believe in this project, and I want to reach our goals next season. We have unfinished business in the league and I’m ready to give it my all again.” – Hugo Fauroux
After a standout 2024 season, Fauroux is returning to the Red and White. The French goalkeeper started in 34 matches, securing ten clean sheets, one assist, and making a significant impact with 94 saves.
Originally signing with Loudoun United on February 3, 2023, the six-foot-one-inch goalkeeper made his professional debut with Norwegian side Valdres FK in 2019, featuring in eight games.
A native of Cannes, France, the 28-year-old spent the 2022 season with USL Championship side, Charleston Battery, where he made 83 saves in 22 matches with the Black-and-Yellow.
Fauroux previously played with Austin Bold FC, making five appearances in the USL Championship with the club.
His journey in soccer began at the youth level with his hometown club, AS Cannes (U17), before progressing to the academy of French giants AS Monaco (U19).
Before embarking on his professional career, the shot-stopper made the move Stateside to play at Lake Erie College in 2015. His standout performance in 2016 earned him the title of GLIAX Goalkeeper of the Year. Fauroux later transferred to Florida International University in 2017, where he received all-conference honors in his first season.
